WAIKAIA SCHOOL

 - A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL -

Waikaia School is the proud hub of the community. We work hard to provide the best education possible for our young students, alongside involving the community when possible in our activities. The students have terrific manners and as they grow in confidence and competence they develop a strong sense of where their education is headed and their potential. We are fortunate through community support to have a high student to computer ratio with there being as many devices as students.

Through planning and financial support the students benefit from all opportunities within the wider region as is evident in the pages on the school section of this website. We often have outside specialist visitors (and travel), to ensure the students have experiences outside the usual confines of a classroom. Alongside this the students’ performance in the New Zealand National Standards is above national and regional levels as per Ministry statistics. This is due to the commitment of teachers, parents, whanau and volunteers to provide the best possible education.

We hope you enjoy reading our newsletters and viewing our pictures.

ABOUT WAIKAIA SCHOOL

The Waikaia Valley is one of Southland’s best kept secrets, with its glistening snow topped mountains and tussock grasslands. Our students strive to achieve our high expectations in all curriculum areas, developing self worth and self discipline by having ownership of their learning. Our students excel in sports, many representing Waikaia at regional levels. A supportive Board, Home and School Committee, and Community give our students more learning opportunities, resources, and experiences outside the classroom.

Our students continue to achieve highly when they leave our school; they have good social and work ethics and many become head of school, prefects and duxes.
